About Me
I have a blend of skills and experience, as a teacher, mother and home educator, that make me uniquely placed to help parents with the education of their children.
I am English and graduated from Oxford university with a degree in Classics in 2001. I went on to complete a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and taught at some of the best private schools in central London. Many of my students went on to study Latin and Greek at Oxford and Cambridge and at Ivy League colleges in the US.
In 2010 I relocated with my husband and son Dominic, who was 5 years old at the time, to New York where we lived for three years before moving to Los Angeles in 2013. In 2015 my daughter Clio was born.
During that time I supported my children in their education at a variety of US schools from Pre-K to High School. But it was the pandemic in 2020 that changed everything for us. With schools closed and then moving on-line, and with no end in sight, my husband and I took the decision to home educate our children.
It was something we had considered for some years, but the pandemic-imposed dry run of six months gave us the confidence to make the leap.
For my son Dominic, who was already set on a return to England for university, we created a home education curriculum, designed to secure a place at Oxford, supported by London based tutors and a switch to the UK examinations of GCSEs and A Levels.
For Clio we needed to design a curriculum bottom up, based on establishing a very strong foundation in the core subjects of English and maths but with solid knowledge in history, geography and science. A well structured academic home education also offers plenty of time for extra curricula activities.
I have learnt a huge amount on this journey. Now I'd like to offer the kind of support and guidance that I would have wanted when I began. If you think I can help, please setup a free consultation so we can meet and explore your needs.
Yours sincerely,
Roz Haddon
